Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

APPENDIX 3

Letter to the Chairman of the Committee from the General Manager of Bell Pottinger Public Relations

You may recall my previous letter, sent on behalf of Paul Gandy (Managing Director) and David Morris (Director) of our client Multiplex Constructions (UK) Limited. Multiplex has been selected to build a new Wembley Stadium, should this project go ahead.

I am pleased to write once again to inform you that The Guardian, Evening Standard and Daily Mail, which carried untrue and defamatory articles on 19 December, have all since retracted those allegations. Each has since printed a correction and apologised for its previous inaccuracies. Full details are carried on a special website www.multiplex-stadium.com.

Whilst writing I have also taken the opportunity to attach some examples (not printed) of my client's impressive credentials—from projects completed or still underway—here in the UK and elsewhere in the world. We hope these will address some of queries that have circulated about Multiplex's ability to deliver a new Wembley.

Multiplex is proud to have been selected by the Football Association to build a new Wembley Stadium. The company prides itself on a reputation for quality and service over 40 years of business that has helped it become not only one of the biggest but also one of the best in its industry. Multiplex is determined to make English fans as proud of the new Wembley as Australian fans have been of Stadium Australia—one of the huge number of successful Multiplex projects.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me, or directly with Paul or David, should you require any further information that underpins the track record and ability of Multiplex to deliver a new Wembley Stadium.
