The Committee deliberated.

Several Memoranda [The Conduct of Investigations into Past Cases of Abuse in Children's Homes] were ordered to be reported to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman do visit Portugal in October to attend the "Comité des Sages" of the Network of European Foundations for Innovative Cooperation to examine European Drug Policy, in a representative capacity.—(The Chairman.)

Ordered, That the Chairman do seek the approval of the Liaison Committee for expenditure in connection with the said visit.

The Lord Chancellor's Department Annual Report 2001-02: Sir Hayden Phillips GCB, Permanent Under-Secretary, Ian Magee, CB, Chief Executive of the Court Service, and Jenny Rowe, Director of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Lord Chancellor's Department, were examined.
