  The Committee deliberated.

  Resolved, That the Committee do visit North America in connection with its inquiry into Delayed Discharges.- (The Chairman.)

  Ordered, That the Chairman do seek the approval of the Liaison Committee for expenditure in connection with the said visit.

  The Role of the Private Sector in the NHS: Mr Peter Huntley, Chief Executive, Channel Primary Care Group, Mr John Fieldhouse, Board Member, and Consultant Oral Surgeon, Federation of Independent Practitioners, Mr Charles Auld, Chief Executive, General Healthcare Group, Mr Barry Hassell, Chief Executive, Independent Healthcare Association, and Karen Bryson, Cancer Services Collaborative, South East Region Regional Office, were examined.

  Mr Donal Roy, Vice-Chairman, Association of Community Health Councils, Mr Howard Catton, Policy Adviser, Royal College of Nursing, and Mr Trevor Campbell Davis, Chairman, Acute Services Committee, NHS Confederation, were examined.
