Letter from Mr Andrew Tyrie MP to the
Chairman of the Committee
I am writing to lend my support to those who
have been arguing for the strengthening of parliament and, in
particular, of Select Committees. I believe in strong government
but I think governments should be forced to explain their actions,
to parliament as well as the media. The lion's share of this work
is currently done by the latter; parliament has been relegated
to a bit part. I do hope that your tenure as Leader will bring
some redress.
