The Committee deliberated.
Mr Brian Glicksman, Treasury Officer of Accounts, was further
examined.
The Comptroller and Auditor General's Report on Pipes and Wires:
Regulating prices and quality of networks delivering essential
services (HC 723) was considered.
Mr Philip Fletcher, Director General, Office of Water Services;
Mr Callum McCarthy, Chairman and Chief Executive, Office of Gas
and Electricity Markets; and Mr David Edmonds, Director General,
Office of Telecommunications, were examined (HC 831-i).
A division of the House being called, the Chairman suspended the
meeting for ten minutes.
The Committee resumed.
The witnesses were further examined.
The witnesses withdrew.
The Committee further deliberated.
Resolved, That the Committee's proposed visit to Kensington
Palace, agreed at the Committee's meeting on 18 July 2001 in the
context of the Committee's inquiries into, and continuing interest
in, the costs of maintaining the Royal Palaces that are funded
by grant-in-aid, take place on Thursday 13 June 2002.(The
Chairman).
Resolved, That the Committee do visit the Treasury Building,
Great George Street, on 25 June 2002, in connection with its ongoing
inquiry into PFI Financing: The Treasury Building Project.(The
Chairman).
Resolved, That the Committee's proposed visit to the Cour
des Comptes, Paris, agreed at the Committee's meeting on 25 March
2002 in connection with its ongoing interest in financial arrangement
and control in the European Union, take place on 29-30 October
2002.(The Chairman).
Resolved, That Imperial Tobacco Group Plc be invited to
give evidence before the Committee in connection with its inquiry
into Customs and Excise Standard Report 2000-01: Tobacco Smuggling,
on a day and time to be arranged.(The Chairman).
