Mr Brian Glicksman, Treasury Officer of Accounts, was further
examined.
The Comptroller and Auditor General's Report on Dealing with pollution
from ships (HC 879), was considered.
Mr Maurice Storey, Chief Executive, Maritime and Coastguard Agency;
and Mr Frank Wall CMG, Head of Shipping Policy Division, Department
for Transport, were examined (HC 960-i).
A division of the House being called, the Chairman suspended the
meeting for ten minutes.
The Committee resumed.
The witnesses were further examined.
The witnesses withdrew.
The Committee further deliberated (informal briefing by HM Customs
and the National Audit Office on Customs and Excise Standard Report
2000-01: Tobacco Smuggling).
Draft Report (NHS Direct in England), proposed by the Chairman,
brought up and read.
Ordered, That the draft Report be read a second time, paragraph
by paragraph.
Paragraphs 1 to 3 read and agreed to.
Paragraph 4 postponed.
Paragraphs 5 to 30 read and agreed to.
Postponed paragraph 4 read and agreed to.
Resolved, That the Report, as amended, be the Fortieth
Report of the Committee to the House.
Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House.
Ordered, That the provisions of Standing Order No. 134
(Select Committees (Reports)) be applied to the Report.
The Committee further deliberated (informal consideration of draft
Report on Royal Travel by Air and Rail).
