Mr Rob Molan, Second Treasury Officer of Accounts, was further
examined.
The Comptroller and Auditor General's Report on The 2001 Outbreak
of Foot and Mouth Disease (HC 939), was considered.
Mr Brian Bender CB, Permanent Secretary, Department for Environment,
Food and Rural Affairs, was further examined; Mr Jim Scudamore,
Director General for Animal Health and Welfare, and Chief Veterinary
Officer, and Mr George Trevelyan, Director, FMD Operations, Department
for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, were examined (HC 1048-i).
Mr Brian Jenkins declared an interest as having been a Parliamentary
Private Secretary at the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and
Food during the period under consideration.
The witnesses withdrew.
The Committee further deliberated (autumn programme).
Resolved, That the Committee approve the proposed programme
of inquiries from 21 October to 18 December.(The Chairman).
Draft Report (Department for International Development: Performance
Management - Helping to reduce World Poverty), proposed by the
Chairman, brought up and read.
Ordered, That the draft Report be read a second time, paragraph
by paragraph.
