Sir Nicholas Montagu, KCB, Chairman, Mr David Hartnett, Director, and Mr Stephen Banyard, Director (Local Services), Inland Revenue, were examined (HC 296-i).

Resolved, That, following evidence given before the Committee on 22 October 2001 (Income Tax Self Assessment), the Chairman do write to the Chairman of the Inland Revenue for clarification of penalties pertaining to the late payment of tax.—(Mr David Rendel).

Postponed paragraph 4 read and agreed to.

Resolved, That the Report be the Thirty-third Report of the Committee to the House.

Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House.

Ordered, That the provisions of Standing Order No. 134 (Select Committees (Reports)) be applied to the Report.
