Sir Sydney Chapman formally declared his interests, as per the Register (see Annex p.24).

Ordered, That Professor Stuart Weir be appointed a Specialist Adviser to assist the Committee in its inquiry into Public Appointments and Patronage.-(The Chairman.)

Resolved, That the Committee do take evidence from Sir Richard Wilson KCB.- (The Chairman.)

Public Appointments and Patronage: Dame Rennie Fritchie, Commissioner for Public Appointments, was examined;

Mr Billy Bragg, Musician, was examined.
