Supplementary written evidence requested
by the Committee at the evidence session on 12 December
1. A list of both National Service and National
Treatment Networks, giving details of the roll out programme.
2. Figures for Government spending on cancer
research for the years 2000-01, if available, and 1999-2000, showing
the year on year increase which has moved Government closer to
meeting the financial input of the charity sector.
3. Any current figures available of cancer
care staffing requirements, and the results of the Research Networks'
estimates of staffing requirements following completion of their
workforce plans. The Committee would also appreciate an idea of
the likely date of this.
The Committee has already received from you
two spreadsheets detailing CT, MRI and PET scanners in use around
the country.
The Committee would also be grateful for written
answers to the following questions:
1. Has the Department of Health made any
estimate of spending required to match the average European spending
on cancer services?
2. Following PIAG's considerations on 10
December, can you tell the Committee when the draft Statutory
Instrument will be laid before Parliament? Will that Regulation
be subject to annual review?
