Select Committee on Standards and Privileges Second Report

Annex B

Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards from Mr Roy Beggs MP

I confirm again that my Register of Interests is complete.

My son, Roy Beggs B. ENG HONS INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING Q.U.B., worked for Inver Ltd., Larne as a trainee manager from November 89 until February 1991 when he left on appointment as Production manager at Weston Engineering Carrick fergus. I have never had any involvement with Inver Ltd. or Lintrend Textiles or Lintrend Lamont at the Inver Road site. I have had to advise the Deputy Editor of Sunday Life that I had been incorrectly linked with Lintrend Textiles in an article published by them and picked up by other papers.

The property above at 41, Station Road was jointly purchased by my wife and myself in 1998 and the final payment of solicitors fees was on 6-3-89.

Planning Permission was obtained in August 1989 for change of use to a Constituency Office.

Alterations, renovation, redecoration was completed in March 1990.

Office rent was claimed between 1990-1991 and 1996-1997 on which Income Tax was paid up at 40% of my share and 25% on my wife's share of rental income. The property was transferred to our daughters to whom rent allowance claimed is paid annually.

Confirmation of declaration of Rental Income can be obtained form Inland Revenue, Public Department, Ty-Glas, Llanishen, Cardiff CF14 5XZ.
