Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from Mr Keith Vaz MP

telephoned my mother in Leicester last Thursday and asked her
questions apparently on your behalf. You have informed me that
she was not acting for your and had no remit to gather information
in this way. You will recall that during the last inquiry you
took action against those witnesses who sought to interfere with
your investigation. As Ms Eggington has put herself forward as
a complainant I would be glad to know what action you propose
93. I have informed the police of the activities
of Mrs Eggington which I regard as harassment. My mother is now
94. Can I refer you to the article by Mr Syal and
Mr Hastings in the last weekend's Telegraph with the heading:
"I will not be moved, says defiant Filkin"
You will recall that I raised the status of these
two journalists with you on a number of occasions. You recommended
that the Committee interview them. Please will you indicate what
is the status of these journalists in this inquiry.
95. What are the allegations of corruption they have
96. I put to you in paragraphs 34 and 89 points about
the press and I would be most grateful for your response.
97. At your request I have now spoken to the Registrar
at the University of East London concerning complaints about you
not replying to letters and other matters. A further matter has
now arisen concerning a case in Bournemouth, to whom shall I send
I look forward to hearing from you.
