Annex IV16
Letter to Ms Eileen Eggington QPM from
the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards
Thank you for your letter of 8 November 2001 and
the copy of the letter from David Price Solicitors.
I am very sorry indeed to hear that you are having
to deal with allegations against yourself and letters from solicitors.
I do appreciate how disturbing this must be.
Any attempt to put pressure on a witness to an investigation
which I undertake would be a contempt of the House. I am bringing
your letters to the attention of the Chairman of the Standards
and Privileges Committee forthwith.
May I assure you that I appreciate your decision
to bring information to my attention to assist the investigation
which is in progress.
Please would you let me know immediately if you receive
any further approaches of any kind in relation to this matter.
