Section 7. REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES (Please
summarise the activities of the Charity during the year and comment
on the overall financial position of the Charity at the end of
the year).
HINDUJA FOUNDATION
REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR 1995
During the year, donations totalling £104,451
were made. The major donations included £57,000 to the Dharam
Hinduja Institute of Indic Research £5,650 to the ISKCON
"Food for Life" programme, £5,000 to the Salisbury
Cathedral Girl Choristers Trust and £5,000 to the India Celebration
Fund. The Foundation also continued its assistance to the Hinduja
Cambridge Trust.
During the year the Foundation assisted in the setting
up of the Dharam Hinduja Institute of Indic Research at Cambridge.
The Institute, which forms part of the Centre for Advanced Religious
and Theological Studies within the Faculty of Divinity, organised
two large seminars both for experts and the public during the
year.
As at December 31 1995, after allowing for all amounts
owed by the charity, a surplus of £154,522.82 remained. During
1995 further donations have been received totalling £200,000.
We therefore consider present funding to be sufficient to meet
the foreseeable short-term financial requirements of the charity.
