Annex ii54
Letter to the Parliamentary Commissioner
for Standards from Ms Maria Fernandes
Thank you for your letter of 3rd September 2001.
I enclose the relevant pages that I wish to have deleted as they
refer to my legal practice and to personal friends.
In addition the following matters need correcting:
On page 3 I informed you that legal proceedings are
in existence in respect of the Mail on Sunday. You responded that:
"I need to be very careful because I do not
want to do anything that will affect those proceedings".
I assume therefore that you will not publish any
material which will affect those proceedings.
On page 4 you imply in answer to Mr Pathan that we
were present at your request. This is of course not correct. You
did not ask to see us, the record will show that I telephoned
you and suggested that we came to see you so that we could be
as helpful as possible.
On page 37 you corrected yourself when you stated
that my mother was a director of a company called Wildberry. Mr
Pathan has now obtained a copy of the relevant documents from
Companies House. I did not know who you were referring to. I have
only one brother-in-law who lives abroad and is not a director
of that company.
I have attached the relevant sections for deletions
from Page 15, 16, 17, 26, 40, 41, 42.
