We are instructed by our client to make a general offer of amends pursuant to section 2 of the Defamation Act 1996 in connection with the defamatory allegations identified in your letter to Russel Forgham dated 15th June 2001. This offer is not a qualified offer.

As you will know this means that our client offers: —

a.    to make a suitable correction and a sufficient apology; and

b.  to publish that correction and apology in a manner that is reasonable and practicable; and

c.    To pay your client such compensation and legal costs as may be agreed but failing agreement as may be awarded by a Judge under section 3(5) of the 1996 Act.

If you client accepts this offer, we look forward to hearing from you so we can progress the formal apology and consideration of the amount of compensation and reasonable costs which should be payable by our client.
