Letter to Mr Nigel Griffiths MP
from the Parliamentary Commissioner for
Standards
I have received a letter from Mrs Lait in which she
alleges that you have used your constituency office during election
campaigns. Mrs Lait acknowledges that you have apologised for
this in relation to the 2001 General Election but says that you
have used it for political purposes on other occasions and she
raises the question as to whether financial reparation is due.
I enclose a copy of her letter.
I would be grateful for your response to these allegations
and any comments you wish to make so that I may decide whether
any investigation is required.
You may prefer to discuss this matter with me in
the first instance and if so perhaps your office would contact
mine so that we can arrange to meet, or alternatively you may
prefer to talk to me on the telephone.
