Select Committee on Transport, Local Government and the Regions Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

Memorandum by Associated British Ports Grimsby and Immingham (TYP 5)

ABP is the largest port operator in the UK with 22 ports in England, Wales and Scotland. For many years we have recognised the importance of maintaining and developing excellent rail links with ports as a very effective way of transporting goods with the added environmental benefits associated with both these forms of transport. We strongly feel, therefore, that it is essential that, for the purposes of sustainable distribution, any opportunity to improve port and rail links should be supported fully by Government through both transport and environmental policies.
