Select Committee on Transport, Local Government and the Regions Minutes of Evidence

Supplementary note by PricewaterhouseCoopers

LONDON UNDERGROUND PPP

During the Committee's hearing on 27 February Mr George Stephenson asked if I could confirm that PricewaterhouseCoopers audited Bechtel Inc., W.S. Atkins Plc, RWE (the parent company of Thames Water) and Halcrow Group. I said I was aware that the firm audited three of these four companies but was not sure about the fourth. Mr Stephenson asked if I could write to the Committee.

I can now confirm that PricewaterhouseCoopers audits Bechtel Inc., W.S. Atkins Plc and RWE. I can also confirm that PricewaterhouseCoopers does not audit Halcrow Group (although it did so until the year ending 31 December 1999).

In case it is helpful to the Committee, I set out below our understanding of the current auditors for each of the shareholders of each of the four consortia who were pre-qualified to bid on the London Underground PPP.
