Supplementary note by PricewaterhouseCoopers
LONDON UNDERGROUND PPP
During the Committee's hearing on 27 February
Mr George Stephenson asked if I could confirm that PricewaterhouseCoopers
audited Bechtel Inc., W.S. Atkins Plc, RWE (the parent company
of Thames Water) and Halcrow Group. I said I was aware that the
firm audited three of these four companies but was not sure about
the fourth. Mr Stephenson asked if I could write to the Committee.
I can now confirm that PricewaterhouseCoopers
audits Bechtel Inc., W.S. Atkins Plc and RWE. I can also confirm
that PricewaterhouseCoopers does not audit Halcrow Group (although
it did so until the year ending 31 December 1999).
In case it is helpful to the Committee, I set
out below our understanding of the current auditors for each of
the shareholders of each of the four consortia who were pre-qualified
to bid on the London Underground PPP.
