Ordered, That the Government's response to the First Report from the Committee, The Children's Society in Wales, be reported to the House.—(The Chairman.)

Resolved, That the Committee do visit Builth Wells, Llangammarch Wells, Swansea, Cardiff, Pant and Merthyr Tydfil from 7 to 9 May in connection with its inquiry into Transport in Wales.—(The Chairman.)

The Committee deliberated.

Broadband Cabling in Wales: Mr David Edmonds, Director General, Mr Jim Niblett, Director of Broadband & European Affairs, and Mr Peter Walker, Director of Technology, Office of Telecommunications; and Professor Mike Tedd, Chairman, Welsh Advisory Committee on Telecommunications, were examined.


Dr David Lumley, Director, UK Communications Policy and Mr Graham Walker, Acting Director, E­economy, Department for Trade and Industry, were examined.
