a Bill to amend the date of commencement of the Freedom of Information Act

2000.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1     Amendment of the Freedom of Information Act 2000

     (1)    Section 87 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (c. 36) (commencement) is

amended as follows.

     (2)    After subsection (2), there is inserted—

           “(2A)              Section 1 of this Act shall come into force on 1 January 2004.

     (3)    In subsection (3) leave out “and (2)” and insert “, (2) and (2A)”.

2     Short title and extent

     (1)    This Act may be cited as the Freedom of Information Act 2000

(Commencement) Act 2003.

     (2)    This Act extends to Northern Ireland.
