Mr. Bercow: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what percentage of primary age children enrolled in primary school in Asia in each of the last 10 years. [139538]
Mr. Gareth Thomas: Internationally agreed figures for Primary school enrolment for each of the last 10 years do not exist. However the most recent Education For All Global Monitoring Report published by UNESCO in November 2003 compares the Net Enrolment Rate, defined as the number of pupils in the official primary school age group enrolled in primary school as a percentage of the primary school age population, for the Asia regions (Central Asia, East Asia and the Pacific, and South and West Asia) between 1990 and 2000.
