Prisons

Mrs. Brooke: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what steps the Prison Service is taking to (a) ensure that all prisoners have a healthy and balanced diet and (b) provide information and education to prisoners on what constitutes a healthy and balanced diet, with particular reference to young offenders in young offender institutions; [138997]

(2) what research his Department has commissioned on the relationship between diet and (a) behaviour in prison, (b) education in prison and (c) re-offending after release from prison; and if he will make a statement. [138998]
