To move the following Schedule:—

'Consequential Amendments Relating To De-accession

Imperial War Museum Act 1920

(1) The Imperial War Museum Act 1920 (c. 16) is amended as follows.

(2) In section (2) (powers and duties of Board) after subsection (1)(c), there is inserted—

"(cc)   dispose of any human remains belonging to the Museum (including things with which the human remains are mixed or bound up) in accordance with the provisions of section 49 of the Human Tissue Act 2004."

National Maritime Museum Act 1934

(1) The National Maritime Museum Act 1934 (c. 43) is amended as follows.

(2) In section 2 (establishment of Board of trustees and duties of the Board) after subsection (3)(b), there is inserted—

"(cc)   dispose of any human remains vested in them for the purposes of the Museum (including things with which the human remains are mixed or bound up) in accordance with the provisions of section 49 of the Human Tissue Act 2004."

British Museum Act 1963

(1) The British Museum Act 1963 (c. 24) is amended as follows.

(2) After section 5 there is inserted—

 "5A  Powers of British Museum Trustees under the Human Tissue Act 2004

   The Trustees of the British Museum may dispose of any human remains vested in them and comprised in their collections (including things with which the human remains are mixed or bound up) in accordance with the provisions of section 49 of the Human Tissue Act 2004."

(3) After section 8 there is inserted—

 "8A  Powers of National History Trustees under the Human Tissue Act 2004

   The Natural History Trustees may dispose of any human remains vested in them and comprised in their collections (including things with which the human remains are mixed or bound up) in accordance with the provisions of section 49 of the Human Tissue Act 2004."

National Heritage Act 1983

(1) The National Heritage Act 1983 (c. 47) is amended as follows.

(2) In section 6(3) (acquisition and disposal of objects by Board of the Victoria and Albert Museum), after paragraph (c), there is inserted—

"(cc)   the disposal is an exercise of a power conferred by section 49 of the Human Tissue Act 2004, or".

(3) In section 14(3) (acquisition and disposal of objects by Board of the Science Museum), after paragraph (c), there is inserted—

"(cc)   the disposal is an exercise of a power conferred by section 49 of the Human Tissue Act 2004, or".

(4) In section 20(3) (acquisition and disposal of objects by Board of the Armouries), after paragraph (c), there is inserted—

"(cc)   the disposal is an exercise of a power conferred by section 49 of the Human Tissue Act 2004, or".

Merseyside Museums and Galleries Order 1986

(1) The Merseyside Museums and Galleries Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/226) is amended as follows.

(2) In Article 6 (acquisition and disposal of works and objects), after paragraph (2)(c), there is inserted—

"(cc)   the disposal is an exercise of a power conferred by section 49 of the Human Tissue Act 2004, or".'.

ORDER OF THE HOUSE [15TH JANUARY 2004]

That the following provisions shall apply to the Human Tissue Bill:

Committal

    1.   The Bill shall be committed to a Standing Committee.

Proceedings in Standing Committee

    2.   Proceedings in the Standing Committee shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion on Thursday 5th February 2004.

    3.   The Standing Committee shall have leave to sit twice on the first day on which it meets.

Consideration and Third Reading

    4.   Proceedings on consideration shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion one hour before the moment of interruption on the day on which those proceedings are commenced.

    5.   Proceedings on Third Reading shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion at the moment of interruption on that day.

    6.   Sessional Order B (programming committee) made on 28th June 2001 shall not apply to proceedings on consideration and Third Reading.

Other proceedings

    7.   Any other proceedings on the Bill (including any proceedings on consideration of Lords Amendments or on any further messages from the Lords) may be programmed.


ORDER OF THE COMMITTEE [27TH JANUARY 2004]

That—

    (1)   during proceedings on the Human Tissue Bill, the Standing Committee, in addition to its first sitting on Tuesday 27th January 2004 at 9.10 a.m., shall meet on that day at 2.30 p.m. and on Thursday 29th January, Tuesday 3rd February and Thursday 5th February at 9.10 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.;

    (2)   the Committee shall consider the Bill in the following order: Clause 1, Schedule 1, Clauses 2 to 10, Schedule 2, Clauses 11 to 13, Schedule 3, Clauses 14 to 35, Schedule 4, Clauses 36 to 46, Schedule 5, Clauses 47 to 50, Schedule 6, Clauses 51 to 57, New Clauses, New Schedules, Clause 58, Schedule 7, Clause 59, Schedule 8, Clauses 60 to 63 and remaining proceedings on the Bill;

    (3)   proceedings in the Committee on the Bill shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion at 5 p.m. on Thursday 5th February 2004.
