Bill

To

Make provision about sleep apnoea and related medical conditions.                                       

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1       

Report by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence

Within 12 months of this Act coming into force the National Institute for

Clinical Excellence shall publish clinical guidelines in respect of the clinical

management of sleep apnoea and related medical conditions.

2       

Duty of Primary Care Trusts

Each Primary Care Trust shall implement the clinical guidelines published by

the National Institute for Clinical Excellence under section 1 within 12 months

of their publication.

3       

Expenditure

There shall be paid out of money provided by Parliament

(a)   

any expenditure of the Secretary of State in consequence of this Act; and

(b)   

any increase attributable to this Act in the sums which under any other Act

are payable out of money so provided.

4       

Short title and extent

(1)   

This Act may be cited as the Sleep Apnoea Act 2004.

(2)   

This Act applies to England.
