Obesity

Tim Loughton: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much the NHS spent on medical research into obesity in each of the last 10 years. [169050]

Miss Melanie Johnson: Management of much of the research supported by national health service research and development funding is devolved and expenditure at project level is not held centrally by the Department. Research relating to obesity is usually carried out in the context of wider programmes.

Mr. Hutton [holding answer 19 April 2004]: Discussions on the future of the Paddington Health Campus are now reaching a conclusion and it is envisaged that the North West London Strategic Health Authority will shortly be in a position to issue a statement on the investment needed to modernise the health economy in North West London.
