Oil and Gas (Windfall Tax)

Alan Simpson: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will assess the case for a windfall tax on profits accruing to UK gas and oil producers as a result of recent and future oil price increases; and if he will make a statement. [196494]

John Healey: All taxes are kept under review on a Budget by Budget basis. The Government are committed to delivering a tax regime for the North Sea which promotes investment and takes a fair share of revenue derived from a national resource.
