Letter from the Department of Health to the Clerk
of the Committee
Thank you for your e-mail of 27 February 2004 about
the requirement on NHS charities to assist in the audit or examination
of their accounts.
We have consulted the solicitors of the Department
of Health, the Charity Commission and the Audit Commission. Unfortunately
the position is not totally clear and our solicitors are discussing
the matter with Parliamentary Counsel. We will advise the Committee
of the outcome as soon as possible.
