Letter and memorandum to the Clerk of
the Committee from the Energy Saving Trust
Please find enclosed the Energy Saving Trust's
response to the above inquiry. Thank you for giving us the opportunity
to respond.
Our response focuses on Chapter 7 of the Pre-Budget
report, and specifically on the sections dealing with domestic
energy efficiency, and the taxation treatment of alternative fuels.
The decisions on domestic energy efficiency outlined in the Pre-Budget
report followed a joint HMT-Defra consultation on fiscal incentives
for energy efficiency. Those on alternative fuels followed a joint
HMT-DfT-HMCE consultation on the taxation treatment of Liquefied
Petroleum Gas and Compressed Natural Gas in the context of the
contribution that these gases could make to a low carbon transport
economy.
EST submitted detailed responses to both these
consultations which are available on our website, I have also
enclosed 12 copies of each publication, one for each member of
the Committee.[5]
