FLY-TIPPING EXAMPLES

  1.  500 tonnes of wastes were dumped on a farmer's field in Hertfordshire despite preventative measures being in place. The cost for removal of the waste was £4,600.

  2.  A Bedfordshire farmer shares a single driveway with three farming neighbours. He has continuing problem with fly-tipping along the road and in gateways and recently spotted a small lorry dumping household waste in the gateway of a field. He was unable to access the field until the waste was moved.

  3.  In Nottinghamshire about eight tonnes of tyres and three loads of builders rubble were dumped in a farmers fields over a period of two months and two of his gateways were blocked with rubbish a few weeks following this.

  4.  In another case, 5 x 7 tonne van-loads of tyres were tipped on an SSSI in Essex. The landowner initially discovered two loads of tyres. Over the next consecutive three days a load of tyres was tipped daily. The costs of removal for tyres were quoted to be 75p per tyre.
