Select Committee on Foreign Affairs Written Evidence

Peter Howarth Lees was taken in for questioning after Simon Venes was killed this is what he says:

"As far as my experience goes the Embassy staff told me during the time I was being taken in for questioning that they knew that I could be detained and tortured yet they could not help me. They point blank refused to help me get out of the country and refused to let me take refuge in the Embassy. Peter then managed to get a phone in on BBC world radio when HRH Prince Turki Al Faisal Al Saud was on there, he asked him these questions, look at the part again where HRH Prince Turki Al Faisal Al Saud says they were tortured, Al Turki had just taken up his post in London at this time. . ."
