Select Committee on Foreign Affairs Written Evidence

Letter to the Parliamentary Relations and Devolution Department, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, from the Second Clerk of the Committee, 14 June 2004

MR JAMES CAMERON

The Committee was concerned to read reports in today's newspapers regarding the recall to London of Mr James Cameron, formerly Second Secretary and Consul at the British Embassy in Romania. It has instructed me to write and request a clarification of Mr Cameron's current situation. It also asks for further information on the wider issues raised by Mr Cameron's case and how the Office intends to deal with them.

The Committee further requests that your reply reach it by no later than Tuesday 22 June, to allow time for consideration prior to the oral evidence session with Sir Michael Jay.

Geoffrey Farrar

Second Clerk of the Committee
