APPENDIX 19
Supplementary memorandum submitted by
the Northern Ireland Prison Service
Thank you for your letter of 22 January seeking
urgent confirmation of the latest figures relating to separated
prisoners.
I will respond to your queries in the order
that you have raised them.
(a)
(i) There are currently 24 dissident republican
prisoners and (ii) 34 loyalist prisoners who have been moved into
temporary separated accommodation.
(b)
Applications from (i) one dissident republican prisoner
and (ii) 15 loyalist prisoners are currently under consideration
for removal into temporary separation.
(c)
Applications have been received from five prisoners
who have transferred from Magilligan prison to the temporary regime
at Maghaberry.
(d)
The Northern Ireland Prison Service does not have
any details of any requests from prisoners wishing to transfer
from prisons in the Republic of Ireland.
