1. Performance of music at functions in the House
Ordered, That the Chairman convey to Mr Speaker the Committee's opinion on several requests by Members of the House.
Resolved, That the Committee notes earlier requests already approved by the Chairman and Mr Speaker.
1. 'Strangers'
The Committee further deliberated.
Ordered, That the Chairman convey to Mr Speaker the Committee's opinion that the names of the Strangers' Dining Room and Strangers' Bar should remain unchanged.
2. Smoking
The Committee further deliberated.
Ordered, That the Chairman convey to the House of Commons Commission the Committee's opinion that smoking should be banned in catering facilities where food is served.
Ordered, That the Committee receive a report on air quality in catering facilities where smoking is allowed.
3. Cuban Promotion
Resolved, That the Committee notes the indefinite postponement of the proposed Cuban Promotion.
4. Members' Dining Room
The Committee deliberated.
5. Bellamy's
Resolved, That the Committee notes a forthcoming visit to the new Bellamy's cafeteria by Mr Speaker.
6. Future meetings
Resolved, That the Committee's next meetings shall be held on Wednesday 2 February, Wednesday 2 March and Wednesday 23 March at Ten o'clock.

1. Performance of music at functions in the House
Ordered, That the Chairman convey to Mr Speaker the Committee's opinion on several requests by Members of the House.
Resolved, That the Committee notes earlier requests already approved by the Chairman and Mr Speaker.
2. Smoking
Resolved, That the Committee notes the decisions on smoking taken by the House of Commons Commission.
3. Ventilation in catering facilities
Resolved, That it is desirable that the House authorities should purchase floor-mounted smoke filtration units as an interim measure to try to improve air quality in catering facilities where smoking will continue to be permitted, and that the technical specifications of the equipment should be provided to the Consultant Occupational Health Physician for her advice on the effectiveness of the units as an interim solution.
4. Menus in catering facilities
The Committee noted a letter from Debra Shipley MP.
Resolved, that it is desirable that the Director of Catering should seek, where produce is sourced from within the UK, to publicise this fact more prominently.
5. Minutes of Proceedings
Resolved, That the Committee notes that Minutes of Proceedings of its meetings will henceforth be published on the Internet shortly after each meeting, in accordance with proposals endorsed by the Liaison Committee.
6. Members' Dining Room
Resolved, That the Committee notes a comprehensive report from the Director of Catering Services on lessons learnt in co-operation with Westminster City Council, following a complaint by a Member; and That the Committee notes that the Environmental Health Officer was content overall with the high standards of food safety in the House of Commons.
7. Members' Smoking Room
Resolved, That the Committee notes that draught beer is again available in the Members' Smoking Room.
8. Joint Procurement
The Committee deliberated.
9. Future meetings
Resolved, That, further to the Resolution of the Committee of 15 December 2004, the Committee's next meeting shall be held on Wednesday 9 March at Ten o'clock.

Ordered, That the Chairman convey to Mr Speaker the Committee's opinion on a request by a Member of the House.
2. Refreshment Department Trading Forecast
Resolved, That the Committee recommends a 3.5 per cent. increase in selling prices for Refreshment Department cafeterias, dining rooms and bars with effect from April 2005.
Resolved, That the Committee endorses the proposed one year trial evening opening of the Portcullis Cafeteria, 7 Millbank.
Ordered, That the Chairman convey the Committee's views to the Finance and Services Committee.

The Committee deliberated.
4. Conferences relating to the UK Presidency of the European Union
Resolved, That the Committee notes several requests to close dining facilities for banqueting functions associated with the UK Presidency of the European Union.
Resolved, That the Committee endorses all of the requests except those for use of the Members Dining Room on a Monday evening or a Tuesday evening.
Ordered, That the Chairman convey the Committee's views to Mr Speaker for his approval.
5. Jubilee Cafe
Resolved, That it is strongly desirable that an alternative temporary refreshment facility for visitors should be made available during the closure of the Jubilee Café in 2006.
6. Jubilee Room: Alternative temporary arrangements for outside catering
Resolved, That outside organisations sponsored by a Member should temporarily be allowed to use their own caterers to provide refreshments in the Macmillan Room, Portcullis House, solely for the period in 2006 when the Jubilee Room is unavailable, and that this right of access should not extend to any kitchen facility.
7. Supply of House of Commons Gift Ale Packs
The Committee deliberated.
8. National Vegetarian Week
Resolved, That the Committee notes an invitation from the Vegetarian Society.
9. Terrace Bar and Terrace Pavilion
The Committee deliberated.
