DEFINITIONS OF SCALE
ACE definitions for touring theatre companies:
Large: companies touring to venues of more than
1,000 seats
Medium: companies touring to venues of more
than 400 seats
Small: companies touring to venues of less than
400 seats
Definitions in the Music Theatre field are less
clear and can refer to company size, playing strength or specialist
repertoire as often as venue size. For example the same company
may run different projects working in a small non-theatre venues
with a few soloists and musicians and in a medium size theatres
with an orchestra and chorus.
