STUDY CLUB (HENDON)

A study club is in operation each week for the benefit of those recruits who feel they need a little extra help with a topic they have covered in class but have not quite understood.

The times of the study club are:

WEDNESDAY 3 pm-6 pm Room 112 (opposite recruit admin)

THURSDAY 8 am-11 am also in room 112.

The purpose of the study club is for a member of staff to assist an individual recruit with a particular topic in an informal atmosphere. Each recruit should identify the topic they need assistance with and bring the relevant lesson notes with them. It is not appropriate for a recruit to expect to revise a whole weeks lesson notes in one session; the aim is to concentrate on one or two topics that are causing the most difficulty.

No formal class sessions are held and large groups attending together are also discouraged as the aim of the study club is to help an individual, and managing a large group is often a hindrance to this.

Welfare issues are not in the remit of the study club; these should be brought to the attention of the pastoral care unit; any other problems relating to class-mates or issues with the course should be addressed with your staff.

The Written Work Assessment Unit (WWAU) staff hold their own study club in the written work unit each Wednesday; and written work queries should be addressed to them.

Also, the study club will not deal with SEE revision; the Student Support Development Unit (SSDU) will deal with this. The SSDU also run a Study Club each Wednesday.

Because of time spent travelling between Hendon and Mill Hill, recruits from the "Green" intake have an alternative study club at the Mill Hill site.
