  1.  Task: To train recruits in accordance with the CMS(R) training syllabus.

  2.  Duties:

    (a)  Command and train (including remedial training) a section of recruits/students on subjects contained in accordance with the training syllabus appropriate to the unit in accordance with current regulations regarding safety and Duty of Care.

    (b)  Stand in for P1 Sgt as necessary.

    (c)  Responsible for the administration and supervision of recruits within barracks and in the field throughout training.

    (d)  Assess students in accordance with the appropriate CTP and CAP and prepare written reports as directed.

    (e)  To complete Regimental Duties as required.

    (f)  Instruct and assist in the conduct training in accordance with qualifications held.

    (g)  Act as a Sect Comd whilst instructing fieldcraft subjects on exercises.

    (h)  Act as guide and mentor to recruits in his section.

    (i)  Responsible for his sect's discipline and welfare including identifying disciplinary and welfare problems and informing the Chain of Command. Manage individual disciplinary and welfare cases as directed.

    (j)  Recommend disciplinary and remedial training action through the Chain of Command.

    (k)  To submit results, reports, returns and statistical data as directed.

    (l)  Conduct Regtl and Coy duties as directed.

  3.  Preferred Arm/Service: As indicated against LSN above.

  4.  Oualifications:

    (a)  Essential:

      (1)  Inf.

          (a)      Section Commanders Battle Course Ph 1 &2

          (b)      One of the following: Basic All Arms Drill Course, Battlefield First Aid Trainer Unit, Map Reading Instructor's Course or Unit NBC Instructor's Course. Unit to negotiate ratios with MCM Divs.

      (2)  OA.

          (a)      OA SAA Cse.

          (b)      One of the following: Basic All Arms Drill Course, Battlefield First Aid Trainer Unit, Map Reading Instructor's Course or Unit NBC Instructor's Course. Unit to negotiate ratios with MCM Divs.

    (b)  Desirable:

      (1)  One AT instructional qualification. (Canoeing, Rock Climbing or MLT).

      (2)  TDLB D32/33 Units.

      (3)  Unit Environmental Duties Course.

      (4)  Driving Licence Cat B or C+E.

  5.  Personal Attributes: A mature, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, capable of understanding young and immature recruits/students and their problems and concerns. Good team member. Must be able to maintain the highest standards of discipline and military skills at all times: must be a first class role model for recruits capable of engendering the core values of the British Army. Have a minimum of four years' residual service remaining on posting. No significant/serious G1 problems.

  6.  Remarks:

    (a)  Not suitable for a first tour Cpl.

    (b)  Understanding of the needs of young and immature students essential.

    (c)  Posting date must enable him to attend RIDC at ITGIS within 3 weeks of arrival.
