Select Committee on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Written Evidence

Memorandum submitted by the Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain

I write on behalf of the Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain. My committee was pleased to read the statement under Annex G on page 91 indicating that in relation to "A proposal to phase out certain characteristics in cats and dogs that make them more prone to suffering", the government sees this as a long-term objective to be achieved with the co-operation of breed societies in conjunction with the Kennel Club and prefers to encourage voluntary schemes rather than rush in with regulations.
