Memorandum submitted by the Association of British Wild Animal Keepers

  The Association of British Wild Animal Keepers (ABWAK) welcome the introduction of this Bill and have the following suggestions to make.

Clause 2

  Section 2.1. ABWAK suggest adding k. "Breeds or retains with the apparent purpose of breeding any animal which is or appears to be intended for use in fighting".

Clause 43

  Section 2 ABWAK believes that such a Certificate should be supported by a Notary or Commissioner for Oaths.

SCHEDULE 1

  Paragraph 9, sub-paragraph 3

  ABWAK suggest adding "If the item or items seized are necessary for the proper Husbandry of any animal then the `qualifying person'(as defined in Paragraph 4 sub-paragraph 2)

  (2)  shall be entitled to request the speedy return of the item or items.
