Select Committee on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Written Evidence

Memorandum submitted by Jeanette Casey

I very much welcome the proposed bill, but I am very disappointed that there is no provision to end the suffering of circus animals. The cruelty involved in the training of these animals has always been known, and the miserable lives they lead chained, caged, with no outlet for natural behaviour. I would also like to be reassured that any laws passed would be enforced, as the existing laws are very often ignored.
