Select Committee on Foreign Affairs Written Evidence

Annex 1

Christmas has come, a time of rejoice, a time to share with our family and our loved ones. However, many main land Chinese are spending Christmas in prison for their Christian belief.

My name is Rev. William Parkinson, on a mission in Asia. I am writing to you, finding your email address on a website, in a desperate attempt to save these people who are being arrested, tortured and even killed by the Chinese communist government for their belief in Christianity.

I was terrified at the news (please refer to below) that a Chinese lady was beaten to death by the police for "illegally carrying out religious activities" for being a member of an unofficial church.

I am asking for your help to save our fellow Christians from being held in freezing cells and from the brutality of the Chinese government. I am hoping that you would be able to take action on my behalf because as a clergy my activities are restricted in Japan.

Reverend William F Parkinson
