AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL'S RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE LUXEMBOURG PRESIDENCY

Knowing your interest in the forthcoming UK Presidency and human rights I am sending you a copy of the memorandum presented to the Luxembourg government at the beginning of their Presidency. In due course we will be preparing a similar document for the UK government.

I noted with interest the statements made by ministers to the Foreign Affairs Committee and Quadripartite Committee yesterday and today and Amnesty International UK will be following these up. We are obviously pleased that the UK government is looking at ways it can promote human rights and arms export controls during its time as President of the EU.

I hope that we might meet to discuss Amnesty International UK's recommendations to the UK Presidency sometime in March?
