Select Committee on Foreign Affairs Written Evidence

Letter to the Clerk of the Committee from the Ministry of Defence, 20 November 2003

Thank you for your letter of 15 October concerning the Committee's recommendation in its 11th Report that the review of landing charges at Gibraltar should be completed.

In its response to this recommendation, the Government said that additional commercial services to Gibraltar were expected to start later this year and would attract reduced landing fees. We acknowledge the Committee's recommendation that the Ministry of Defence's review of landing charges be completed, and the results announced, as soon as may be practicable. Internal discussions on this issue are continuing and we intend to announce their outcome as soon as possible.
