Submission from Dr Roger Berry MP
Thank you for your letter of 29 June 2004.
I am writing to express my strong support for
the reforms that the House approved in October 2002 in relation
to earlier sittings. I think that these changes reflected Labour's
commitment to family friendly working and to backtrack on any
of these now would be, to say the least, embarrassing to the Government.
We must practice what we preach.
Late night sittings are absurd. Worse than that,
they result in an unrepresentative House by virtue of the fact
that women and men with family responsibilities are discouraged.
