Select Committee on Trade and Industry Minutes of Evidence

Examination of Witnesses (Questions 260 - 261)

TUESDAY 6 JULY 2004

ASSOCIATION OF LICENSED MULTIPLE RETAILERS

  Q260  Linda Perham: Between 40 and 80 . . .?

Mr Bish: Pubs per BDM. It is a call rate thing; they might be around every month or two, it might be as infrequently as once a quarter. It depends on the nature of the relationship and the level of support they are giving.

Q261  Linda Perham: Do you get many complaints about such people, or is it bad in every organisation and you are always going to get people who are—

Mr Bish: I refer back to that satisfaction rating in the Morning Advertiser. I think a score of 3.5 out of 5, a 70% satisfaction rating, is not bad. There will be some who are less good than others. One fears that where the relationship has collapsed, for whatever reason, the reports of the relationship are not going to be as encouraging as they would be otherwise.

Chairman: Thank you very much. We have covered all the ground we wanted to with you. If necessary we will drop you a line to get some points of clarification when we look again at your evidence, but thank you very much for your time and your trouble this afternoon.
