Examination of Witnesses (Questions 420 - 422)

TUESDAY 20 JULY 2004

ENTERPRISE INNS PLC

Q420  Mr Evans: We have spoken about income streams. You do not charge your tenants for promotional material that the brewers and soft drinks companies give to you, do you?

  Mr Tuppen: No.

Q421  Mr Evans: It is all free. Finally, if you were given a choice by the Government to be either a property company or a wholesaler what do you think you would choose?

Mr Tuppen: I think we would argue vehemently to carry on with the excellent system that we have currently got—

  Q422  Mr Evans: Go on!

  Mr Tuppen: I am not—

Chairman: We will not insist because you have been very generous with your time and with your information. We will maybe require further information from you once we have pored over this. Thank you very much, you have been here for two hours and we expected you to take 45 minutes. Thank you very much for your fulsome responses. We will try and progress a little more speedily with the next set of witnesses.
