12 JANUARY 2005

Mr Owen Watkin, and Mr Ian Miller

Q558 Chairman: Can I thank you for your written submissions originally and for coming here today for the oral evidence session. Just for the record, can I ask you to introduce yourselves, but before I do can I also warn you that within about 10 minutes there will be a division in the House and I will have to suspend the sitting. It is an occupational hazard. Mr Watkin, would you like to start?

Mr Watkin: Could I firstly thank you for inviting us this afternoon to give evidence and we are grateful for this opportunity. My name is Owen Watkin. I am Chief Executive of Ceredigion County Council and also Chairman of Ceredigion Community Safety Partnership.

Q559 Chairman: Can I ask you who the other Chair is?

Mr Miller: Yes. The other Chair is Chief Superintendent Julian Sandham, who is the commander of the basic command unit.

Chairman: Thank you. If I can start off with Mr Roger Williams.
