Amend
the Priests (Ordination of Women) Measure 1993 so as to remove

bar on the consecration of
women as bishops; and for connected purposes. |

it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the advice and |

|
consent of the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal, and Commons, in this present |
|

Parliament assembled, and
by the authority of the same, as follows:— |

Amendment
of the Measure |

(1) |
The Priests (Ordination
of Women) Measure 1993 (No. 2) (“the Measure”) is
|
|
|
amended in accordance with
the provisions of this section. |
|
|
|
|
(a) |
after “ordained to
the office of priest” insert “or consecrated to the
office |
|

(b) |
at end add “or consecrated
as bishops”. |
|
|
(3) |
Section 1(2) is hereby repealed. |
|

In section 2(1)(a), after

Short
title, commencement and extent |

(1) |
This Act may be cited as
the Bishops (Consecration of Women) Act 2006. |
|
|
(2) |
This Act shall come into
force on the date six months after it has received Royal |
|
|
|
|
(3) |
This Act extends to England
(including the Diocese of Europe) and the Isle of |
|
|
|

|
