time by one hour throughout the year for an experimental period;

it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the advice and |

consent of the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal, and Commons, in this present |

Parliament assembled, and
by the authority of the same, as follows:— |

Time
for general purposes |
|
|
Subject to section 3 of
the Summer Time Act 1972 (c. 6)
(interpretation of |
|
|
references) the time for
general purposes shall be one hour in advance of |
|
|
|
|

In section 1(1) of the Summer
Time Act 1972 (advance of time during period of |

summer time) for “one
hour” substitute “two hours”. |

Short
title, commencement and extent |
|

(1) |
This Act may be cited as
the Lighter Evenings (Experiment) Act 2006. |
|
|
(2) |
This Act shall come into
force— |
|
|
(a) |
in England at two o’clock
in the morning of 29th October 2006, |
|
|
(b) |
in Wales on such day (if
any) as the National Assembly for Wales may |
|

by order made by statutory
instrument appoint, |
|
|
|
and
shall expire at two o’clock in the morning of 25th October
2009. |
|
|
(3) |
This Act extends to the whole
of the United Kingdom. |
