Referendums

Mrs. Spelman: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister which Department is responsible for (a) mayoral referendums and (b) local referendums held under the Local Government Act 2003. [5572]

Mr. Woolas: The Department for Constitutional Affairs is responsible for policy on the conduct of mayoral and local referendums. Policy and legislation about when such referendums can be held and for what purpose are the responsibility of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Social Housing Grant

Daniel Kawczynski: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister (1) what representations he received before the abolition of the Local Authority Social Housing Grant; and from whom; [2560]

(2) what representations he received, and from whom, on extending the transitional arrangements put in place to oversee the abolition of the Local Authority Social Housing Grant. [2562]

Yvette Cooper: A summary of responses to the consultation 'The Way Forward for Housing Capital Finance' was placed in the Libraries of both Houses on 19 May 2004. The summary includes, among other things, details of consultees who responded to the suggestion about the future of Local Authority Social Housing Grant (LASHG) in that paper. In addition, representations were received prior to the abolition of LASHG from the right hon. and hon. Members for:
